Mr. Justin A. Traino

Symposium Editor   |   Vol. XXXIX   |   2012 - 2013

Mr. Justin A. Traino graduated magna cum laude from Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Mr. Traino is the Symposium Editor of the Ohio Northern University Law Review and will be organizing this spring's Law Review Symposium. While at law school, Mr. Traino’s research interests have been centered around entertainment law, with a focus on copyrights and trademarks. He has completed an article on issues arising between record labels and their artists regarding ownership of post-1977 copyrights in sound recordings under the Copyright Act of 1976. He is currently working on another piece regarding an artist's right of publicity and trademark law.

Like his research interests, Mr. Traino's work experience has also been focused on the entertainment industries. He spent the summer after his first year with Capitol Records in Los Angeles, California and assisted in developing multiple licensing agreements with television and film studios. This past summer, Mr. Traino work for entertainment law firm Beame & Mencher LLP in New York City and participated in the negotiating and drafting of licensing, collaboration, and employment agreements for artists, producers, and TV personalities. Additionally, he presented a seminar to aspiring musicians, singer/songwriters, producers, and entrepreneurs on how U.S. Copyright Law intersects with the music industry.

In his free time, Mr. Traino enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, coaching football, and traveling. Subsequent to law school, Mr. Traino hopes to practice media, entertainment, or IP law within a private firm or company.
