Welcome to ONU Law
Ohio Northern University College of Law is one of the smallest and strongest law schools in the Midwest. We opened our doors in 1885 and are the second oldest of Ohio’s nine law schools. Annually, the college of law enrolls more than 285 students from more than 40 states in our full-time Juris Doctor degree and concurrent JD/LL.M. and JD/MPPA programs.
Our goal at ONU Law is not only to educate, but also to ensure the development of practical skills, morals, and leadership needed to be successful in the practice of law. With an enviable 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio; consistently strong bar passage and employment placement statistics; accomplished, nationally recognized faculty; and a dynamic and vibrant student community, the ONU College of Law is preparing students for the challenging legal profession in the 21st century.
Our students graduate with the practical skills needed to be successful in a career in law. We attribute this to our outstanding Legal Clinical programs, our skills and prospective courses, as well as our interactive January Term. We pride ourselves on providing one of the most comprehensive and rigorous curriculums. From 2002-2011, ONU Law’s job placement rate stood high above the national average. In 2012, our job placement rate remained high at 81.4% employed or seeking an LL.M. nine months after graduation. Our bar passage rates also remained high this year with a 91% passage rate for first-time takers on the July 2012 Bar Exam, and 100% passage rate for first-time takers on the February 2013 Bar Exam – ranking ONU Law as one of the highest in the state on both occassions.
We invite you to visit the law college. Our 2013-14 application is free. We encourage you to apply now for the greatest consideration for admission and scholarship opportunities. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at (419) 772-2211 or lawadmissions@onu.edu.
