Kyra Rouse is eager to help other students. She feels that she should support the program like the program has supported her. She does her best to always be there for her classmates. “I feel like I can always offer support to a classmate,” she says. “Even if it’s not my strongest class, I feel like I can always point them in the direction of somebody who can help them.” She also is very grateful to the alumni who come back and offer their support to current students. “It shows that yes, this works, it is worth your time to be here,” she says.
Kyra would like to explore prosecution or defense work, and she is very interested in sports law. She was able to do a clinic with the Ohio Sentencing Commission through ONU’s clinics and externship program. With the help of Career Services, she was then able to transition smoothly into an externship for credit. “Everyone is very helpful in ensuring that I can do the things that I want to do to further my career,” she says. “When you leave here, you are set to be the best lawyer that you can be.” Though it has been challenging, she finds the work that she has done to be extremely rewarding.
