PJ Ratcliffe came to ONU from West Virginia in hopes of returning to the small community environment that he enjoyed in high school. “If you want to come here and further yourself, it’s a great place to do it," he says. “It’s an easy place to focus.” He values the family atmosphere of the law college. He believes that the small class sizes lead to closeness with professors and that being on a first-name basis with the faculty has helped lead him to success. He currently is working as a research assistant and finds more value in the relationship he has established than the work alone.
PJ believes that hard work is the key to success. “You don’t have to be the smartest person in here,” he says. “But if you really work hard and do what you’re supposed to do, you’ll be fine.”
In law school, he aims to be the best person that he can be and to further his education. “Law school has tested me in more ways than I could ever imagine,” he says. “The amount of work that you have to put in to get what you want is immense, but it’s so rewarding to see the payoff.” PJ’s goal is to return home to West Virginia and to help create positive change in the state legislature.
