Gregory Cooper is a partner with the Fort Wayne, Ind., office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department. Cooper represents both individuals and corporations in the areas of U.S. and foreign patent procurement, trademark and copyright registration, non-disclosure agreements, trade secret law, and intellectual property enforcement and licensing. He has assisted clients in filing patent applications related to mechanical devices, material and chemical compositions, pharmaceuticals, electrical devices, software, and internet and e-commerce in both the U.S. and internationally. Cooper also manages worldwide patent portfolios for corporate clients.

Cooper has prepared and filed appeal briefs with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on clients’ behalf and has argued before the U.S. Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences in Washington, D.C. His practice has extended into foreign patent oppositions, both defending and opposing foreign patents for clients.

He has counseled clients in patent validity and infringement issues as well as participated in patent litigation from complaint to trial. Cooper also negotiates both patent and copyright license agreements and settlements, and addresses intellectual property issues in contract and employment matters.
