Professor Elliott is currently a Magistrate in Domestic Relations, Civil, and Criminal Divisions in Hancock County Common Pleas Court and a court mediator. Professor Elliott started her career by enlisting in the United States Army where she experienced active duty from 1973-1976. She continued in the Army Reserve until 1996 as a JAG (Judge Advocate General) officer. From 1983 until 1998, Elliott practiced law in the private practice. She has taught at the law school since 1987 as an adjunct professor; she taught full time in the legal writing program from 1984-1986 and 1998-2004. Karen Elliott, adjunct professor of law, was recognized by the Student Bar Association with the Faculty Appreciation Award for 2009-2010 and 2011-2012. Professor Elliot serves as a trustee on the Hancock County Legal Education Foundation and has presented training for guardians ad litem in the courts and family law issues.
