ONU recognizes the importance of support and the level of connection needed as students navigate through their bar exam studies. We provide all of our ONU Law students with customized support from the Assistant Director of Bar Success beginning in their second year, when they register for the bar exam.
ONU Law requires all students to take the bar preparation courses (PASS I & II) during their final semester of study, which allows students to get academic credit and an early start to studying for the bar exam. This is designed to reinforce students' knowledge of the law as well as their analytical and writing skills in the context of highly-tested subject areas, as they prepare to take the bar examination. PASS I & II introduces them to the structure of the bar exam, multiple choice questions, essays, and performance tests which they will encounter on state bar exams. Students complete practice questions, review lectures, and take simulated exams while receiving feedback from the professor on their performance and areas for improvement.
Ohio Northern University's Pettit College of Law is making bar prep more accessible to third-year law students by partnering with nonprofit AccessLex Institute to offer Helix Bar Review. While there are many bar prep programs available to students to help them prepare for the bar exam, ONU Law believes the instructional approach taken by Helix is the best approach for our students.
The Assistant Director of Bar Success becomes the student’s main point of contact once they begin studying for the bar exam so that students feel completely supported through their studies after law school.
