Bar Exam Success
A History of Strong Graduate Outcomes
For more than 130 years, ONU Law has been devoted to preparing students for legal practice. As one of the oldest law schools in Ohio, we have created a unique program where students can develop the skills to make a difference, regardless of where they want to go with their law degree. While the world and our college have evolved since ONU Law was founded in 1885, our commitment to strong graduate outcomes remains unchanged.
The ultimate goal of every law student is to pass the bar exam. At ONU Law, we are proud of our graduates’ success on the bar exam – not only in Ohio but across the country. Following the July 2019 exam, Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law ranks first among Ohio law schools for first-time bar passage. Every ONU Law student taking the bar for the first time passed, resulting in a 100 percent bar passage rate. Ohio Northern’s first-time bar passage rate of 100 percent is well above the state average of 82 percent for the 734 first-time takers of the Ohio bar.

ONU Law has extensive bar prep programs in place to prepare students to pass the bar exam. We were one of the first law schools in the country to integrate a bar-prep course for academic credit into our third-year curriculum. The course is offered to all students taking the bar exam.
