The ONU Legal Clinic gives students the opportunity to represent real clients under the direct supervision of licensed clinic attorneys. Based in Lima, Ohio, the clinic provides free legal services across a broad range of civil matters — such as family law, small business compliance, real estate, and estate planning — for individuals who would otherwise go without representation. The clinic also represents nonprofit organizations, including churches, on transactional matters such as corporate governance, formation, and compliance. Students take on the responsibilities of practicing attorneys: interviewing clients, conducting legal research, drafting documents, and appearing in court or negotiations, all while learning what it means to serve as an advocate for those who need one most.
ONU Law will serve income-eligible residents in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam, and Van Wert counties.
