Kidder Emerging Leader

Associate Law Professor and Director of Legal Clinics and Externships, Melissa Kidder is receiving some much-deserved national recognition.

Professor Kidder received the Emerging Leader Award from the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) at their annual Clinical Conference in Portland. The award recognizes faculty who have made meaningful early-career contributions to externship education through institutional leadership, scholarship, and national service.

According to Grace Parrish, AALS Externship Section Co-Chairperson, Professor Kidder was honored not only for her work at ONU Law, but also her scholarship on rural lawyering and access to justice, and her national leadership as Co-Chair of the AALS Externship Section Committee.

"Melissa has been a steady force in the national externship community. She is thoughtful, generous with her time, and deeply committed to externship education," she says. "Melissa is the kind of leader who makes everyone around her better, whether she is shaping national conversations about externship pedagogy or supporting colleagues across the country. The Emerging Leader Award recognizes exactly what those of us who work with her already know: her contributions to experiential legal education are substantial."

ONU Law is proud to celebrate this outstanding achievement and the continued impact of Professor Kidder's work.
