Love is in the air at Ohio Northern University's Pettit College of Law. When Charlyne Adams, JD ’20, and Anthony Edwards, JD ’20, walked into their first law school class at Ohio Northern University in the summer of 2017, neither imagined they’d someday walk down the aisle together. The two, both now proud ONU Law graduates, began their legal education as summer starters — and by coincidence, they chose seats side-by-side on day one.
What began as a simple classroom seating arrangement quickly grew into a close friendship. Between case brief discussions, outlining marathons, and countless hours spent studying in Tilton Hall, Charlyne and Anthony formed a bond that outlasted the stresses of law school.
Nearly six years later, that bond turned into a proposal — right where their story began – in the Small Moot Courtroom. The couple returned to ONU Law for what Charlyne believed was a nostalgic visit. Anthony had other plans. Leading her back to the very classroom where they met, he got down on one knee and proposed. Friends and family say the choice of location was perfect: a full-circle moment rooted in the place that brought them together.
Now, just weeks away from their wedding day, the couple shared another special detail: their classmate, Akendita Amoro, JD ’20, will officiate the ceremony — adding another meaningful ONU Law connection to their celebration.
“We never could have predicted it,” the couple shared. “But ONU gave us more than a legal education. It gave us each other.”
The couple currently resides in Urbana, Ohio. Charlyne is a family law attorney and Anthony owns his own law firm and title agency.
Best wishes to Charlyne and Anthony.
