Congratulations to ONU Law professor Richard Bales, co-editor and contributor to “The Federal Arbitration Act: Successes, Failures, and a Roadmap for Reform.”
In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA), the book brings together a diverse group of leading scholars and practitioners to celebrate its successes and propose specific reforms. Just released, the book focuses on domestic, commercial and consumer, as well as securities, and labor and employment arbitration; providing a roadmap for legislators to reform the Act to enhance its fairness and coherence.
Co-edited by Bales and Jill I. Gross, Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, the book gives insight into how the Federal Arbitration Act impacts the modern practice of arbitration and how the Supreme Court's interpretation of the Act undermines its fairness.
“The FAA, originally created to encourage arbitration of commercial disputes, now covers disputes its drafters never envisioned. It is our hope that this collaborative effort will inspire meaningful legal and policy changes to ensure arbitration remains fair, equitable, and accessible for all,” says Bales.
Please join the book's co-editors and contributors for a free on-line book launch event providing collective recommendations for law reform.
The Zoom event will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 1 p.m. (EST).
